Basho Café

Project Background

Basho is a family run Japanese Cafe in Vancouver. The Kawai family values the warmth and comfort of great company,their passion for confections and delicacies has lead them to create this cozy cafe, a home away from home for their customers.

Design Solution

The objective was to create a website that reflected the Basho brand created by Also Known As Studio. The brand is inspired by the cafe’s handmade decor & furniture as well as the earthy & warm feelings that the cafe brings to its customers. Asides from amazing food, Basho’s beautiful handcrafted qualities gives the cafe a personal touch that makes the cafe truely unique. In order to bring their handcrafted qualities into the web design a series of hand drawn icons, illustrations, and patterns were made in the brand’s colors: green and brown.
